Software Engineer

Threespot Software Engineers are responsible for the development, testing and documentation of Web-based software and technical solutions. On large- or enterprise-sized projects, they will work as a member of a development team under direction of a Senior Software Engineer acting as technical lead. On small to mid-sized projects, the Software Engineer may work as the sole technical resource and may also be responsible for requirements gathering, application design, architecture, and specifications documentation. They will frequently work with Developers for integration of front-end templates into software applications.

As with all of the technical staff, Software Engineers are comfortable working in a deadline-driven, technology-agnostic and design-focused environment. They are expected to interact with project managers, fellow technical personnel and graphic designers, as well as keep the Technical Director informed of their workload and availability. They are dedicated to the production of high quality and elegant solutions that meet client requirements and expectations. They are professional, courteous, and possess excellent verbal and written skills.

Qualifications

  • Strong working knowledge of at least one of the following development technologies and mid-level working knowledge in several others: Cold Fusion, PHP, JSP, ASP or ASP.NET.
  • Mid-level knowledge of database design and strong knowledge developing against at least one of the following database servers: Microsoft SQL Server, MySQL or Oracle.
  • Mid-level working knowledge of application architecture, design patterns, and development methodologies / frameworks.
  • While not a primary job function, experience with HTML, DHTML, CSS, and JavaScript is highly recommended.

Responsibilities

  • Produces clean, error-free and well-documented technical solutions
  • Acts as a development resource on large to enterprise-sized projects under a Senior Software Engineer
  • Acts as a sole development resource responsible for application design and/or development on small to mid-size projects
  • When necessary, interacts with the client to determine technical requirements and goals and explain technical approach
  • Completes work by or before deadline
