Director of Business Development
We’re looking for a seasoned digital communicator and strategic thinker to grow business development at Threespot.
Threespot is looking for a Director of Business Development. Our ideal candidate is a seasoned digital communicator and strategic thinker with years of experience in a similar role at one or more digital agencies. They are motivated to collaborate and learn from a staff that cares passionately about the work we do and why we do it. They know how to build relationships, work a room, and lead a team. They are passionate about our clients, their missions, and their success. They seek, gather, and connect the dots between what the market wants and what we deliver.
This business development expert knows in their bones that reputation and trustworthiness are infinitely more valuable than chasing a bad deal or closing at any cost. They are kind, creative, thoughtful, whip-smart, and will bring great relationships, energy, and ideas to the table on day one.
The Director of Business Development will own the growth and development of the sales practice at Threespot. As such, they will be tightly integrated with our leadership and enjoy connections to all of Threespot’s team, clients, and relationships in the community.
Responsibilities
- Define and execute a sales strategy to promote Threespot’s services and enhance our reputation in the nonprofit, foundation, association, and Federal government communities
- Create new client revenue of $3M+ annually
- Identify and pursue sales opportunities, both by fielding incoming inquiries and targeting specific clients and sectors and convert those opportunities into mutually successful relationships
- Manage the pipeline by responding, qualifying, and converting leads into opportunities
- Collaborate on our marketing strategy to help identify and manage marketing channels, and ensure that our site, social, and marketing materials are all tuned to support our sales strategy
- Demonstrate our company mission, vision, and values as a recognized team leader and ambassador
- Research clients and the marketplace to identify areas for strategic growth of our offering and services
- Write stellar proposals, pitches, and presentations to build momentum and enthusiasm for Threespot with prospects and with the community
Requirements
- 10 years of relevant experience including sales, marketing, or leadership position
- Experience working for a digital agency with communications strategy, website design, development, and marketing familiarity
- Have developed, maintained, and delivered on marketing and business development strategies in the past
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- You’re flexible, able to improvise, and a creative problem solver. You won’t have a dedicated team here, so you will need to be creative about how you tap into leadership’s and the production team’s skills, time, and experience to get the job done.
Bonus Points
- Familiarity with Pipedrive or a similar CRM
- Experience speaking and presenting in our industry
- Background working with cause-based clients, either as an employee, consultant, or volunteer
